“A Writer's Retreat That Changed How I Write–and Live.” Looking for a break from *waves arm around*? Want a “retreat from the ordinary, a chance to write, to think, to adventure, and to immerse yourself in the pleasures of Paris where beauty is a catalyst all its own”? The Blue Hour Paris is returning this fall! Early bird pricing still available.
The voting in the Democratic Primary for NYC Mayor (which, for those of you not versed in NYC politics, often determines the mayor) ends this Tuesday. I recognize I’m a sucker for NYC, but I would also argue this election has outsized implications, not least because NYC is the largest city in America, and often a bulwark against policies that take root elsewhere. (I’m not alone in this: many voices outside NYC have been weighing in, and Zohran Mamdani and Brad Lander are set to appear on Colbert Monday night). I’d encourage everyone to read Rebecca Traister’s blistering and deeply informed takedown of both Cuomo’s bid, and the cynicism and cowardliness of those supporting it. (BONUS: “You sound real corny being scared of the subway.”)
For those of you who got sucked down the CBK/Ryan Murphy fashion fiasco rabbit hole this week, I wrote this way back in 2016, and I think it holds up!
Laura Ingalls Wilder Was Not A Tradwife! Sara Petersen read Caroline Fraser’s Prairie Fires and I spoke to her about WILDER.
Finally, I continue to hear about the video conversation on finances I had with Jane Barratt. I’m thinking of doing more, so if there’s anyone in particular you’d like to hear from, let me know and I’ll see if I can make it happen.

Now, to the mailbag! Reminder: if you want to submit your own, you can do so here.
Glynnis, if you're just here to enjoy yourself, what are the rest of us here for? Just kidding. My question is, is there anything in the book you regret divulging?
